DJ CAL @ The Hoxton

DJ Cal played in front of a packed crowd at the Hoxton last night, filling the room with energy and getting everyone to dance their faces off.  Throwing down a large set over 2 hours long, Cal dropped an bone-tingling mix of tunes that made you wonder when he would be spinning at the Hox next.   Take a listen to his mixes on Soundcloud HERE while browsing his music blog Salacious Sound for the latest in new music.

Epic Powder Ski Trip: Part II – HELICOPTER!

Part 2 of this photo series takes place in Blue River, British Columbia – the home of the world-famous Mike Wiegle Helicopter Skiing operation.  One of the most ridiculous and intense extreme adventures I’ve ever participated in and it had me smiling ear to ear.  This is the kind of stuff you see in Warren Miller ski movies!

Eight of us stayed in a huge ski chalet where a couple of steps out our door, a fleet of ten helicopters would arrive in morning to take us to ride unlimited vertical in untouched mountain terrain.  Deep snow, dense trees, cliff drops, amazing friends and the rush of a helicopter picking you up and dropping you off for your every run is an experience like no-other.  I still can’t believe I was part of this!

Epic Powder Ski Trip: Part 1

With a delayed flight from YYZ to YVR, three of us missed our connecting flight from YVR to Kamloops.  Instead of waiting two days for the next available flight, we rented a minivan to shuttle ourselves to Revelstoke for some fresh powder skiing at North America’s highest lift-serviced vertical at 1,713 metres (5,620 ft).  It only took 8 hours of driving through the sketchiest sections of icy roads and white-out conditions to get there after four hours of flying.  We made it.  Here are some epic photos from the first couple of days of our trip with seven boys from Ontario and another five from British Columbia.

I haven’t taken the lens out in a while and what better way to do it than when you have access to shoot a crazy party from some fun angles.  Lots of colours, whacky scenes, and good times shooting with DJ Cal from Salacious Sound.  The crowd was BANANAS!

Photos featured on thecode.ca

Over the past few months I’ve been doing a lot of commercial photography for an exciting, new online fashion boutique called The Code.  I was really happy with the way the leading page’s photo came out as the colours had a lot of punch.  Take a look around the site, buy some accessories and check out some of my photos.

Paragliding in Maui

I’m stuck in a hotel in San Francisco trying to get home.  It’s been a long two days of travelling and looking like it’s going to be 3 days total.  Lucky enough I have a bunch of photos to go through.

Here are some shots from my 3000 foot descent from the Haleakala volcano via a tandem paragliding session in Maui.  Met a cool couple on their honeymoon from Jordan who were excited and quite scared to fly.  It’s quite a rush flying so far off the ground (for about 10 minutes), through the clouds, being held up by a kite/parachute contraption.  It’s a very free feeling…especially flying barefoot!
